‘Performance For Peace’

On Thursday March 12th, 2020 ‘Performance For Peace’ was held as an ode to Indo-Pak Peace at Arts Council Pakistan Karachi in Auditorium Hall I. Performances included dance forms from the Indian subcontinent including Bharatnatyam, Odissi and a Theater play staged by Tehrik-i-Niswan members. The speakers at the event spoke on the socio-political issues faced by both countries and how peace initiatives could help foster harmony despite the current border skirmishes.

Mushaira: 1st Women Conference 2020

Arts Council Pakistan Karachi hosted its first Women’s Conference as part of its International Women’s Day 2020 celebrations on the 6th and 7th of March. The conference was attended by several professionals including renowned journalists, Human Rights Activists, Arts Council Members, and socio-political activists working for the Women’s Rights Movement in the country today.

Remembering Faiz, Mehfil e Nazm

February is the birth month of arguably the best Urdu poet of all time – Faiz Ahmed Faiz. He spent his life as a human rights activist, as a journalist and as a flag bearer of arts and culture. To celebrate the birth of the visionary poet the chairperson the Adabi Committee (Sher o Sukhan) of Arts Council Dr. Ambreen Haseeb Amber arranged the ‘Mehfil e Nazm’ at Manzar Akbar Hall, Arts Council on Monday 10 Feb 2020.

Two-day Hamd-o-Naat Conference 2020

A two-day Hamd-o-Naat Conference began on Saturday at the Arts Council of Pakistan. Presiding a session on the conference’s first day, Dr Riaz Majeed said the purpose of the conference was to promote love for Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through Hamd and Naat.
