Arts Council Theatre Academy (ACTA)
ACTA offers Certificate Course and Theatre Workshops in ACTING and DIRECTING for Youths and those who want to discover their EDGE….
The idea of opening the theatre academy was first introduced by Mr. Muhammad Ahmed Shah– currently President or Arts Council in 2007 for which necessary planning, research, meetings and Opinion were taken to perceive the pros and cons of the idea.
A 10-day workshop was held in December 2007 for the experimental basis to observe the need of the theatre academy. Following the workshop a play was performed in Arts Council Auditorium which was the great success and was highly appreciated by the audiences.
After the successful completion of the workshop it was decided to start a proper course of theatre classes for 3 months. For which ads were published in the newspapers. The response from the people was above expectation; more than 100 applications were received. A brief interviews and audition was taken on 25th October, 2008 after which 40 candidates were selected.
An orientation session class was held on 31st October 2008 in which a brief introduction about theatre & performing arts, course outline, faculty and codes of conducts for students were explained. From 17th November 2008 the first 3 month Certificate course Began.
The course included subjects like Theatre History, Stage Placement & Body Movement, Team Confidence & Trust building, Characterization, Diction Script Writing, Direction and Class Exercises to enhance imagination, body language and self confidence.
Now in 2016 ACTA running successfully Six Months Acting and Directing Training course on regular bases in the afternoon as well in the evening shifts.
ACTA Planning to extend the duration of course.
