Arts Council Karachi honored Maira Khan with the Cultural Ambassador of Pakistan award
“An Evening with Maira Khan” was organized by Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi in Auditorium I which was hosted by the famous writer and intellectual Anwar Maqsood. Maira Khan and host Anwar Maqsood had a heart-to-heart conversation on Sunday at the Arts Council of Pakistan. The evening was full of witty exchanges on politics, The Legend of Maula Jatt and the importance of financial independence for women in Pakistan.


Welcoming Anwar Maqsood and actress Maira Khan, President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah said that everyone knows Maira Khan and Anwar Maqsood, it is a matter of happiness for us that today Maira is among us, I would like to thank Fiza and Nabeel.
Without whom this would not have been possible, Anwar Maqsood started the conversation by saying that whenever I have spoken to anyone, he was a politician or a soldier, today is the first time I am speaking to an actress like this.
I have written a lot for Tv actors including Uzma Geelani, Khaleda Riasat, Samina Ahmed, Sania Saeed, Rubina Ashraf, Bushra Ansari, Badar Khalil, till now I have not written any play for Mahira because since I has stopped writing, Mahira Khan became famous, famous actress Maira Khan said that I wanted to become an actress since childhood, my grandmother objected to this, when I was offered to be a VJ, she said that I want to work in films,
I took permission from my family to become a VJ, when I got a call from Shoaib Mansoor, I did not believe that he would do the film “Bol”. I told Shoaib that I have just had a baby, I got the answer that there is no problem, in our time, babies used to be on the set, then I, mother, Abu and my son Azlan went to Lahore.
Maira Khan said that scripts are too long these days, to which Anwar Maqsood said that when I wrote Sitara and Mehr un Nisa, there was no forced dialogue in it. Maira Khan said if girls are not financially independent then they can’t do much. It was great to work in India. It was my dream to work with Shah Rukh Khan.
Anwar Maqsood then asked that you and Shah Rukh Khan have What was the same except the nose, on which the whole hall echoed with applause, Maira Khan laughingly said that many people told me to get a nose surgery, I said never, what is the use if the nose is amputated. She said that what I learned in life is to come on time and give my full time.
I also produced the telefilm “Ek Hai Nigar”. I don’t produce for money. Story of General Nagar is the story of a courageous woman, she said that listening to old songs is my hobby, I like songs of Pakistani Sufi Kalam, Rafi and Geeta Dutt, two DVDs when I went to college. I had, on Geeta Dut`s “Piasa”and “Aangan Terha”.
I tried very hard to speak good Punjabi in Moula Jat, Anwar Maqsood said, I watched your movie “Moula Jat” thrice in which Moula Jatt drinks a lot and becomes Fawad Khan while romancing, on social media. Some things have been said by me, the rest are all lies,
Maira Khan expressed her desire and said that any politician should be honest, to which Anwar Maqsood said that an honest person can make everyone dishonest, 23 crores Population is, if the state becomes Madina, then 19 crore people will have their hands cut off. In the end, Maira Khan was given the Cultural Ambassador of Pakistan award by the President of Arts Council Muhammad Ahmad Shah.
