Intellectuals, activists and f amily members paid glowing tribute to Comrade Shanta Bukhari, the first female activist belonging to the Communist Party in Sindh`s history who organised working class women and struggled for their rights. Speakers at a programme held on Saturday to mark the fifth death anniversary of Shanta Bukhari at the Arts Council spoke threadbare over the subcontinent`s most significant and tumultuous times when in mid-1940s several events pulled together to force the British Raj quitting India and famous navy`s mutiny was one such event in which Comrade Bukhari had played her part in Karachi.
