9th Tehzeeb Festival and Awards held at the Arts Council Karachi

These kind of festivals are very rare and should be done on a regular basis “Governor Sindh Mr. Muhammad Zubair” 

The 9th Tehzeeb Festival and Awards held at the Arts Council on Friday to Saturday, 20th to 22nd of April 2018 was an amalgamation of classical music in different styles and genres.

The annual festival was held featuring classical, folk and Sufi music by musicians recognizes legends in their respective musical genres.

Audience lined up outside the Arts Council Auditorium to attend the festivities. Everyone was captivated by the sitar recitals performed by Turab Ali and Farhan Rais Khan. The Book Celestial Sitar by Ustad Rais Khan was also launched today by Muhammad Ahmed Shah, Anwar M

aqsood, S.M. Shahid, Farhan Rais Khan and Sharif Awan. “Urdu Ghazal Ka Safar” history of Urdu Ghazal was curated by Sharif Awan and presented by Wadahat Rameez, Intezar Hussain and Ustad Shahid Hamid, Sufi Sounds by Ahsan Bari was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. 

Second day of Tehzeeb Festival saw an overwhelming response by the people of Karachi, Taal Ang Kathak was performed by Naheed Siddiqui while Ustad Nafees Khan mesmerized the audience with the sitar. Artists were appreciated and awards were distributed in the Tehzeeb Award Ceremony where Cheif Guest Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair said ” These kind of festivals are very rare and should be done on a regular basis ” Rajasthani/Thar folk music presented by the local musicians of Thar won the hearts of many, Young Maestros Muslim Shaggan, Nayan Ali Khan and Inam Ali Khan also added a different flavour to the evening.The festival ended with the Classical Vocals of Ustad Fateh Ali Khan which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
