Announcing the 13th Aalmi Urdu conference 2020:

3 rd December to 6 th December

This year we ask all literature lovers to prepare for a literary adventure of a lifetime with intellectuals and educated personalities from all over the world coming to share their highly informative knowledge with you.
It`s a one-of-a-kind event where discussions on poetry, film, fiction, children’s literature, poetry recitals will held under one roof for everyone to enjoy.
The conference has about 200 participants annually but this year it will be slightly different due to the COVID19 global pandemic scenario which has plagued the world. The world is starved for art, literature and performances and thus the 2020 Aalmi Urdu Conference will be available for digital live streaming and accessible for audiences around the globe. The event will be organized following all the require Standard Operating Procedures and there is a hope that millions can participate digitally and make the 13 th Aalmi Urdu Conference a massive success.


Completing 13 years of the International Aalmi Urdu Conference

Initiated 13 years ago by the Arts Council Karachi, the Urdu conference has been a regular annual event eagerly awaited by the literary enthusiasts and literature lovers of the nation.

The foundation of the Aalmi Urdu Conference (International Urdu Conference) was laid ago in the year 2008. This year, the conference enters in its 13th glorious year of Urdu literature, poetry, prose, and plays. The conference gives the people of Karachi and the nation a yearly opportunity to be a part of amazing literary discourse activities and lectures that are designed to celebrate the beautiful and poetic language of Urdu as well as pays a tribute to the nation’s regional languages.
The conference is attended by celebrated names of Urdu literature from various countries around the world. Different sessions will be held for public interaction, debates and discussions.

Maestros and renowned literary giants from around the subcontinent like Mr. Anwar Maqsood, Mr. Zia Mohyeddin, Ms. Haseena Moin from Pakistan and Mr. Shamim Hanfifrom India have graced the occasion regularly. Other renowned names from Pakistan include but are not limited to:

Dr. Aslam Farrukhi, Abdullah Hussain, Intizar Hussain, Jameeluddin Aali, Hajra Masroor, Fatima Surayya Bajia, Obaidullah Siddiqui, Mushtaq Yusufi,  Kamal Ahmed Rizvi, Professor Haroon Rasheed, Lutfullah Khan, Ibrahim Mohammad Khan, Agha Nasir and Dr. Asif  Farrukhi.

Moreover, several noted scholars from United Kingdom, London, Canada, Turkey, Iran, Egypt, U.S.A., Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Norway and other parts of Europe have participated from around the globe to present their research papers, opinions and their theses on literary discourses.

The Annual Aalmi Urdu Conference held at Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi is a hall mark event which has put Urdu Literature and the linguistic giants of this language and especially of this country on the global map of literary discourse. Scholars have come to unite at this platform and left a legacy of educational, informational and progressive prowess behind which will continue to resonate for an eternity.

This Conference is an amalgamation of the hard work of the Arts Council Karachi team under the leadership of our president Mr. Muhammad Ahmed Shah. A pioneering annual effort to promote and celebrate the soft image of the nation, this conference is a living proof that art and literature can bring together thought provoking minds and rekindle the country’s lost glory.
